Another Unity FB card....

Here is one more card that I uploaded to the Unity FB challenge. Read my previous post for all the links : ) I was actually really happy with the way this card turned out, I love the pop of white from the gel pen on the kraft cardstock. Sometimes when I'm making a lot of cards in succession, like now for Christmas, I find myself being only mildly satisfied with what I've made, so I like when I make one with ease that I'm genuinely happy with : ) I used my new Unity stamp "whispering willows". Well, til next time, thanks for stopping by!

Dec 8th EDIT ***
I am going to enter this card to the "Let it Snow" Unity Challenge on the Unity Challenge blog! You can find the challenge here and play along too!

Unity Facebook challenge!

Well, I have to be honest I have not read hardly any blogs or posted anything myself very much the last month or so. With Christmas approaching faster and faster, I stopped doing challenges and started focusing more on just getting some cards done to mail out! Before Thanksgiving Unity Stamp Company had their Brown Friday sale and all their stamps were 45% off! So of course I ordered some lol : D This was my first time ordering from them, and I'll probably be ordering again. On their Facebook page they are having a Christmas project challenge using Unity stamps, you can play along here if you have Unity stamps : ). These are the cards that I've made so far and posted to their wall! The stamps I used on these cards were: "You Melt My Heart" (snowman and sentiment), "Warmth and Winter Wishes" (tree with snowflakes and sentiment), "Tiny Giggle Grove" (trees with circles), and "All of Santa's Reindeer" (reindeer). Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting! : )

Dec.8th EDIT*

I decided to enter two of these cards at the "Let it Snow" Unity Challenge blog! I'm entering the "You Melt My Heart" card and the "Warmth And Winter Wishes (tree)" card! You can find the challenge here and play along too!

Way behind!

Wow! It's been quite awhile since I have posted anything. Been kinda busy at work with the holidays coming up, we have a few holiday events that we do every year. Also, I have been trying to get started on making some Christmas cards to send out this year! Needless to say, I've barely scratched the surface! Last year, I started making my Christmas cards in August! So yeah, I guess I can comfortably say that I am way behind, ha ha! I haven't quite finished any of my Christmas cards for this year, I'm doing some in stages so they're only partially done. Since I recently just started my blog, I thought I would post some pictures of a few Christmas cards that I made last year! Hopefully I can get some for this year done this weekend and will post as soon as some are done! Well, thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

Sympathy Card for a co-worker

Hi there! It's been a little while since I've posted anything! I haven't even checked on any challenges! I really have to get started on my personal Christmas cards for this year : ) Well, this last weekend, one of my co-workers suffered a great loss, her mother passed away due to heart disease. All of us at work are close knit and we were all so sad to hear that she was having to go through this. I decided I wanted to make a card for her for us all to sign at work. I used Basic Grey paper from the Porcelain collection and Distress ink in Walnut stain to ink the edges. The rose and frame are stickers from the same collection and then I added some pearls and dark green ribbon. Inside the frame I stamped "with sympathy" from the sentiment sampler from Paper Smooches. Thanks for taking a look and happy crafting!

This is Halloween!

Well, Halloween is right around the corner! I love Halloween and the whole holiday time that follows : ) The challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays was to create a Halloween theme card with no orange at all. Which was actually perfectly fine with me, because I mostly lean more toward the whole purple and green look.
I started off with a black card base and two black and white pieces of patterned paper. I thought the bats and the stars would look cool together, kinda like a night sky kinda thing. You can't really see it, but behind the label with the sentiment, I taped the two different pieces of paper together with some silver duct tape. In real life, it's neat looking, because it has that chrome-y look. I stamped the webs and sentiment with black dye ink and adhered some cool sparkly spiders. I set the purple piece with foam squares for that little bit of added dimension. I glued a purple bling to the top of a green paperclip and used it to adhere the green paper to the purple (I put glue underneath too). Below are the pictures, and a close up of the sparkly spider and paperclip and of the dimension with the foam squares.
Well that's it for today and thanks for stopping by to check it out! Till next time, happy crafting!

CAS-ual Fridays

This last week CAS-ual Fridays is having a special challenge with a blog hop. Head on over to their blog to get all the details, it's for a good cause! The theme was about smiles. They provided a sentiment that you could use with your card if you wanted. Below is the card I created for this challenge. I started with a white card and matted with a patterned paper from Basic Grey's Porcelain collection. I used my Spellbinders dies for the labels and the letters & the one circle sticker are from the sticker sheet from the same collection. I tied some embroidery floss in steps, then cinched them together and added some green bling. Well, that's my card for today, thanks for stopping by!

World Cardmaking Day & Paper Smooches Sparks

Happy World Cardmaking Day to everyone! Hope you had fun making cards or even just browsing the ones on the web that others have made = ) I wasn't sure this morning if I was going to make since I woke up with a horrible headache, the last from a bad cold I'm getting over. I ended up making a few cards today though = ) I'm not sending any in to the World Cardmaking Day contest over at Papercrafts Mag though, maybe next year.
Today is also the release day of Paper Smooches stamps, yay! As a surprise, they released an extra set called "Hope" in honor of breast cancer awareness month! If you head on over to the PS blog, there is a chance to win this set. This was a great set for her to release, so many people have been affected by this condition. As if Paper Smooches isn't already so awesome, they will be donating 50% of each set sold to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
While making my cards today I decided to make one for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge. Below is the inspiration photo and the card with the mug and the hearts is my entry for that challenge. Following are the other cards I made today! Well, till next time, happy crafting!

Been awhile....

Okay, so its been a little while since I posted anything. I got involved with learning about better brands of dog foods and what people foods I can mix into my dog's food for variety, so that's all I've been researching! But on an exciting note, for the Paper Smooches DT blog hop I was chosen as a winner for a brand spankin new stamp set that releases tomorrow! I won the Hot Concoctions set and it will be available to buy tomorrow at Paper Smooches website. I was and still am soooooo excited! Below is the pic of the stamp set and handwritten note from Kim Hughes, creator of Paper Smooches. How cool is that?  I did make a couple cards just as a breather before I got my Paper Smooches stamp set in though. I felt like using flowers and a white background so I made the one below. After that I made a second card just for fun also, the flower in it is more purple than blue in real life = ) It's always nice to make some cards just for the fun of papercrafting
= )

CAS-ual Fridays & Paper Smooches Sparks : 2nd entries

I decided I wanted to do a second entry for both Paper Smooches Sparks and CAS-ual Fridays, so I thought to myself, "Hey, maybe I can tie the two in together!" So that's what I did!
For CAS-ual Fridays, the challenge was to make a mini-card. I really love mini cards, I'm not sure why, but I just love the look of them.
For Paper Smooches Sparks, we were given an inspiration photo and the challenge was to create something from it.
I started with a lime green base and a white circle piece of paper. I used the three circle elements and the teeny tiny heart from Paper Smooches Sugar Rush set to make the circular image. I colored it in with Triart markers and stamped the word "friend" in the middle from Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler set. I lined the white circle with peach embroidery floss and added some green bling. My finished card is 4 by 4 inches.

CAS-ual Fridays : mini cards!

This week's challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays was mini cards! Cute! The first thing that came to mind for me was a gift card holder. I started with a kraft cardstock base and inked the edges with Distress Ink walnut stain. I then sized a piece of cream paper and distressed the edges. This is actually the first time I tried my hand at distressing! I don't have an actual distressing tool, so I just used some sandpaper that was laying around. I stamped the root beer float image from Paper Smooches sugar rush set onto white cardstock, colored with Triart markers and cut it out. The root beer float is set with dimensional foam. The sentiment "celebrate" comes from the same set and I stamped it in the Distress Ink walnut stain. I finished off with some cream colored embroidery floss and red metallic embellies to match the straw in the image.

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge!

Paper Smooches stamps decided to hold their Sparks challenge bi-weekly, yay! I was so excited to hear about this! Also, Kim made a whole seperate blog for the Sparks challenge, you can go check out the Sparks blog HERE. I just love Paper Smooches stamps and really recommend you check them out, super cuuuute!
So on to my entry for the Sparks challenge! Instead of going with a visually similiar entry, I decided I wanted to go with the color scheme of the challenge photo. The color scheme is what grabbed my attention first. Below is the inspiration photo and following is my entry. For my card, I used the stamp sets Sugar Rush and Sentiment Sampler. I stamped the two words of the sentiment seperately to fit onto the die cut and added a couple small cute bees. I colored the popsicles with Triart markers, which are alcohol based. The small hearts and also from the Sugar Rush set.
Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Party!

I have an aunt who is really close to me, like a mother. Year before last she decided she wanted to stay in a local nursing home because it is easier for her.  Tomorrow is her birthday, and my other aunts decided to have a birthday party for her at the nursing home. As gifts I bought her a rice heat/cool reusable pack, some plush eye blinders, and 3 different scents of natural soaps from Whole Foods. Hope she likes them! Now onto the card! Here is the birthday card I made for her. Originally it was going to be a vertical card, but I made a boo boo and dropped the ink pad on my first piece of patterned paper! ....oops....So I just barely had enough to make it horizontal instead! The patterned paper & ribbon are from Hobby Lobby and the sentiments are from Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler set.

Second CAS-ual Friday image

I didn't know I couldn't post two images with the same URL, so here is the one I didn't get to post for the CAS-ual Fridays "stuck on you" challenge!

Moxie Fab World - Horizontal Challenge

Moxie Fab World was celebrating Papercrafts Magazine's special edition "Card Ideas for Papercrafters" by holding a challenge from each category. Here is my card that I created for the Horizontal Sketch challenge. I used Basic Grey paper from the Lime Rickey set. The candies, tiny hearts and sentiment are from the Sugar Rush set by Paper Smooches. The small felt heart is a Valentine embellishment I got from Hobby Lobby last year.  Below is also the image of the sketch.

Another CAS-ual Fridays entry

.....or more like two more! Lol : D Here are two more cards I made for the challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays - "stuck on you" ....stickers essentially (CFC17). The first one I used "A Touch of Jolee's" sticker for the flower and the sentiment is a faith-based vellum sticker by Sticko. The second card, the trees and clouds are both by sticko and the sentiment was a vellum quote that I ran through the Xyron to make into a sticker. I had fun with this challenge, even though alot of times I have a hard time figuring out how to make stickers look nice and not like I just stuck them on there and called it a day! Thanks for checking them out!

It is full of great sketches to start off any papercrafting project. When I saw the challenge, the first thing I thought of was teeth! Lol, so I though a monster would be cute. Below are the images of the sketch and the card I created from it. Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge* CFC #16

The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays was to create a "clear and simple" project using an embossing technique. I just recently got the Surf and Turf stamp set from Paper Smooches in the mail and was itching to use it some more! I decided to create a simple thank you card using dry embossing. I started off with a pale yellow card base and I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder with a bubble look to it on some light blue pearl paper. I then stamped the whale from Surf and Turf and colored him with Triart markers, first layer was C2 Cool Gray No.2 and second layer was BG-11 Pale Blue. I also stamped the air bubbles from the same set and colored them with B6 Andes Blue. The sentiment "huge thanks" is from the same set and is stamped in Royal Blue ink by Stampabilites and then I cut it out with "bubbly" decorative scissors. I then added a simple piece of white emboidery thread in a knot.

Happy Frame!

Here is a frame I made recently for a baby shower. I bought the blank wooden frame at Hobbly Lobby. I painted the whole background with Folkart acrylic paint in Calypso Sky. I then cut out the different pieces with my create-a-critter and simply charmed Cricut carts and the letters are cut out with a Cuttlebug alphabet die set. The grass is cut out from the green page of the Lime Rickey Basic Grey set of papers. I also then outlined some of the things with white gel pen. Thanks for checking it out!

My first coloring attempt

I really wanted to use my new markers and my new Paper Smooches stamps. Soooo....this is what I made : ) My large coloring area is kinda streaky, Im not sure what I didn't do right, but hopefully I get better with time! The only stamp that isn't from the Paper Smooches Surf and Turf set is the cloud; its from the Cheer Up set by My Cute Stamps.
